Losing my mind over Year of Hell (again)
You would think that the Voyager episode that parallels 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea would be Thirty Days, since it’s about an ocean planet and they name drop Jules Verne, but nope, it’s Year of Hell, specifically part 2
Annorax is Captain Nemo — Paris even calls him that at one point. He has countless rare treasures aboard his ship, much like the submarine Nautilus. He is a mysterious figure, a person who has cast himself out of society.
He takes Chakotay and Paris prisoner at the end of part 1. Chakotay plays Aronnax to Annorax’s Captain Nemo, indulging him and participating in the temporal incursions. He defends Annorax’s actions to Tom Paris, aka Space Harpooner Ned Land. He is scheming to get out from the second they are on board, and he is moody and frustrated with Chakotay’s collaboration with Annorax. There is no direct parallel to Conseil, though the argument can be made that its Tom’s buddy Obrist. Annorax makes secret attacks and has motives that are unknown to his prisoners, even though Chakotay is working with him.
Aronnax, Conseil, and Ned Land escape the Nautilus when the submarine encounters a maelstrom. In Year of Hell, Voyager and Captain Janeway together are the maelstrom. She is a force to be reckoned with that destroys the time ship and Annorax. Her actions free the timeline and consequently Chakotay and Tom Paris.
During/after the Voyager maelstrom, we learn Annorax lost his wife under unknown circumstances. His grief for the loss of his family motivates his vengeance, which we get hints of from the beginning. During 20,000 Leagues, we don’t learn Nemo’s full story, much like we only get hints of Annorax’s life before the events of Year of Hell. Was Annorax a prince/royal of some sort before he lost everything? We see him in a kind of palace after his ship is destroyed, so he could be royal since Nemo is the son of a maharajah.
If they had made Year of Hell a whole season, they certainly could have drawn more parallels between the two stories. As it is, Tom Paris who has read Jules Verne clearly picked up on the similarities.
#star trek voyager#year of hell#year of hell is explicitly based on 20000 leagues#they also name drop Jules Verne in the 37s#I’ve been thinking about this for at least a month but just rewatched year of hell#positive I didn’t hit everything since I was trying to be succinct#it was the aronnax annorax that tipped me off#then I looked it up and sure enough it was their inspiration#I have more 20000 leagues under the sea and Star Trek thoughts since I am 150 years late to this party#listen my lit degree is in Spanish and I slept through HS English#also we didn’t read books in hs english we watched movies every day#I also managed to convince my hs I was illiterate for a year#maelstrom janeway is a whole mood#a post no one asked for#tell me 20000 leagues under the sea wasn’t just an excuse for Jules Verne to infodump about fish#meta

the batkids as things I did in school
Dick:
take dance class and be friends with everyone even though there was some weird infighting going on between everyone. forget to do the assignment to make up a dance ourselves, just improv'd it and got a good grade, somehow. had the most fun slipping down the hallways in socks.
halfway through the year asked to have a free period instead of ASL 3, bc the teacher wasn't teaching us anything or even keeping it interesting so I spent the whole afternoon in Physics class instead.
went all out for 80s day during Spirit Week but turns out no one else did. got a lot of weird looks and concerned questions that day. one kid said I looked like a jumpscare. thanks dude.
missed more than half of my statistics classes but was still getting a better grade than the seniors I sat near. 😭
Barbara:
got really angry when the Pre-AP Bio teacher disnt know whether Carbon was 6 or 8 on the Periodic Table. 14yr old me thought that it was extremely important to know as a science teacher. failed the first 6wks, got moved to a regular bio class, was late everyday but the teacher still loved me. found and identified a tumor in the stomach of the pig we dissected in class. Can still sing the entire DNA song(to the tune of I Want it That Way) word for word over 10yrs later. Still gets stuck in my head sometimes.
kept getting told off in sewing class bc we weren't supposed to hold the pins in our mouth while sewing bc it's dangerous if we accidentally swallow them but that's what I was used to doing at home.
Jason:
stunned the much older kids in my class playing Hangman by looking up and immediately guessing "Labyrinth" from the few letters that everyone else had guessed (one of them looked up what the hardest word was for the game and that was it. it would have been if I wasn't so obsessed with Phantom of the Opera and the David Bowie Labyrinth movie at that point in time)
read all of the short stories in that years English textbook within the first month of school every year
Cass:
smile at people (esp teachers) so wide that id have to close my eyes, and then immediately dropping the smile. (it gave me a break from eye contact and trying to figure out what expression I "should" have in that moment)
Everytime I joyfully played in the rain during lunch and then froze my butt off during afternoon classes in the AC.
also the times I was late for afternoon class bc I was overjoyed at seeing snow.
Tim:
was too overwhelmed to actually do the required amount of weekly reading so I just picked classic books I had already read and picked a random place to put the bookmark and easily answered the teachers questions on what I was "reading"
be a "gifted" student so I was put in the fast track math class but was too anxious to deal with that teacher's incessant yelling at the students so I begged them to put me in a different class. they put me in a regular paced class and told me to just go ahead and do the fast track by myself at my own pace. got distracted and never did the work. switched schools the next year and got put in the next math up and totally regretted it but was in too deep to back out.
dropped out of public school in 11th grade to have a mental breakdown ✌️ eventually finished HS later through online classes and stuff.
Steph:
get hooked on Kpop bc the one friend I had made moved away and now I was stuck with her friends at lunch without much of anything in common so we had to make something.
fell asleep in class bc I was awake all night watching kdramas.
had to do a report on a European country and then got overly attached to the country of Moldova...
Duke:
only got detention twice in all of the years of school. once for being late all the time and once for not turning in my homework on time(the teach didn't want to give me detention but she threatened everyone with it and it was only fair)
Always skipped Pep Rallys and hung out in the Orchestra room instead. also ate lunch in one of the empty practice rooms behind the band hall with friends bc we could :)
got overly excited about black hole radiation and decided to ask my then science teacher about it and was SUPER disappointed when she didn't know anything about it (despite it being a fairly new concept at the time and she only taught middle school non-specific science)
Damian:
got put in theatre class to fill an empty spot on my schedule, enjoyed it IMMENSELY, got assigned "weirdo kid" role by the teacher for the end of year play. really went all out to play up the weirdo role. probably could have just been myself and it would've been enough.
managed to get into a Ceramics class without taking an applicable basic art credit first. the teacher thought it was weird but she didn't kick me out!
all three times I was asked out I turned them down brutally because I didn't really understand social convention. whoops. sorry dudes.
accidentally offended someone when I said that Art 1 was easy :/ (I think they thought I was saying art in general was easy, which. no. I was taking Art 1 as an online class and it was all the basic stuff about art I had learned from my older sis over the years)

I’m tired, angry and bored so here we go! A messy list of fucked up Public School Things that may or may not be a universal experience:
The Lunches were a mix of good and horrible:
I was usually fine with the lunches because they were pretty decent and, like, yay food! But looking back they were just, so wrong????
Like in my middle school lunches AND breakfast were a mess. I got food poisoning like once or twice from the breakfast and the lunch was pitiful. At one point they just stopped cooking the pasta and left a bunch of uncooked, powdery noodles in a plastic box like anyone was gonna grab them and be like “mm yes! my favorite! hard noodles!”. Like what the actual fuck.
The pizza was also in a box, none of the toppings were labeled so it was a gamble on what type you would get, and most of the time they were burnt. In HS the pizza was fine but it tasted fake as hell and I’m pretty sure they just took some rubber and put cheese on it.
My HS lunches were better but even then it was just, really concerning how limited and odd the food was. Luckily we didn’t have to pay except for like cookies and stuff smaller than your hand that costs like $2 cuz they want to “promote healthiness” despite feeding us what is basically prison food.
The class sizes were horrifying: I’m sorry but what person can teach 30+ rowdy kids and be perfectly fine??? Not to mention this was the norm the whole day! Imagine grading all those papers, keeping track of every student, and making sure they all shut up long enough to teach. And that’s just for the teachers who actually care.
Like a class size should be a max of 20 with a few exceptions. Do you know how stressful it is for everyone involved? Not to mention, 30 kids was considered SMALL!! Some classes had 40, even 50 STUDENTS!!!! WHAT THE FUCK.
We never had enough books, or supplies, or anything. Usually by the half point of the year, half the books would be missing or destroyed and it was a mess. In HS the Drama and Music teachers had to deal with like, one class of 10-20, and then like 5 classes of 40-50(all mixed grades too). And you know what’s even more fucked up? There was only one of each teacher.
There was one drama teacher. Who btw deserves the world and legit cares about her job and students. I honestly hope she quit and went somewhere better. She had to put up with 40+ screaming kids, grade all of those assignments, deal with insult and harassment(she was plus-sized and white. So she couldn’t talk back, would get insulted, and more. The only white people allowed to be sassy in that school were funny white men that were laid back), and had barely enough supplies to get by.
There was one music teacher. Who also deserves the world and legit cares about her job and students. She had to deal with 40-50, almost 60+, kids. The majority of them being sophomores and freshman, with bits of seniors and juniors. She taught music, taught band, and organized events and performances. She is, I believe, the first and only music teacher in that school and that’s just so fucked up. Like imagine being one person and having to manage hundreds of students like that.
There was only one digital arts teacher but I have no idea what they did since you can’t choose what class you attend. I just know it was constantly crowded, never really applauded, and they weren’t involved in a lot of things.
Oh yes how could I forget the art teacher! Yeah no there was no art class that involved drawing and painting. Apparently that class was scrapped years ago and has now turned into a JROTC locker! :D Speaking of JROTC:
JROTC and Sports had too much support and that’s a serious problem:
Hey maybe it’s because I’m an art kid and I hate exercising(because every attempt to do so was met with laughter, humiliation, and the ridicule of my body even though I can’t control how my body grows and changes), but man did JROTC and sports(specifically football) have way too much attention.
We had not one, not two, but FOUR ENTIRE JROTC CLASSES! Classes training you to be in the military, specifically Air Force. Classes you HAD to take unless you wanted to be in gym(never had the class but from what I’ve heard, there were about 50-70 kids, mostly male, filling up that class and they didn’t do anything but play ball or whatever. All of course, taught by one guy).
Somehow this program had enough support for uniforms, 4 different classrooms, supplies, several teachers(all of whom were in the military at one point[they were chill except for the freshman teacher who called you a whiny baby for being in pain]), and more.
Not to mention, every so often military people would come by with pretty pamphlets and fun little strength tests and have kids to sign up to newsletters and shit and ask them to join the military when they graduate so they can get free college and happy fun times!! :D
Football was given way too much attention, even over the other sports, and I absolutely hate it. Every month was about football, football, football. So much money went into football, so much support went into football. Yeah yeah yeah follow your dreams or whatever the fuck they tell you on Disney Channel, but there was too much support on this one sport that involved kids breaking their heads open.
Please please give me ONE valid reason why this irritating-ass sport had so much attention while art students, craft students, theater students, music students, students who want to work in literally any other field that doesn’t involve science or sports had to fucking scrape every tiny little chance they could from the crumbs that were left behind. PLEASE tell me why I had to join a completely different program that was hella exclusive and restricted to Juniors and Seniors that had a certain skill-level just to have a proper arts class while football players got a cool fancy bus, a shit ton of gear, and praise every single day(seriously their pictures and trophies were everywhere).
Why is it that they get scholarships and full rides for throwing a ball around and bashing their brains open while I had to fucking destroy my hand and scramble around for some shit like $200 which I wouldn’t even get because I don’t have the skill to paint the mona lisa or whatever. Anywayyyy~
Hey what the fuck was up with the rules? Sorry kids but if you’re reading this, everything they tell you on tv about high school is a lie. Unless you watched the Dora the Explorer movie, then that was actually pretty accurate.
Hey is it weird we had metal detectors and legit police officers(who were armed) in our school? Is it weird that we had to wear plastic, see-through book-bags, that weren’t even given to us for free and were so weak that they had to get rid of that rule because they would break after like 2 months? Is it weird we were all stuffed into a nasty, sticky, pest-ridden, staircase right in front of the main doors in the morning because we weren’t allowed all the way inside for whatever reason unless it was for a club(i.e. sports)? Is it weird that we were all trapped in the lunch room by security guards because they didn’t want kids roaming the halls even though they already did? Is it weird we weren’t allowed to go to the bathroom and were always told “you should’ve went your last class” when your last class didn’t let you? Is it weird we weren’t allowed to use the bathroom and were always told that “you should’ve went during the transition time” even though the transition time was only 4 minutes and the hallways were so crowded that it’d be time for class by the time you’d get there?
Is it weird that when we were allowed to use the bathroom, all of the bathrooms were locked and only one on the other side of the school was open, and the majority of the stalls were broken? And they kept the bathrooms locked, even after school, because they didn’t want kids skipping class even though they still did?
Is it weird that if you didn’t have a belt(if you were male), or a part of your uniform, you would be prevented from going to class if there were no more temporary uniforms?
Is it weird that if one kid did something bad, the entire class would be punished and class time would be wasted and the point of punishment would be lost because the teacher wanted a taste of power or whatever?(hey one time in 8th grade, both classes had to stand in one long ass line for about half an hour because someone was talking and it was treated like it was a joke. this took up our breakfast time too)
Other Shit: One time my HS got like $20,000 and instead of using it to fix at least one thing, they wasted it on useless flatscreen tv’s and SAT “tutors” that taught us 3rd grade english & math, how to annotate(I swear to fucking god one more person try and teach me how to underline a motherfucking sentence---) and did absolutely nothing to help us. Meanwhile the football players were living like kings.
We had a strange assortment of teachers, ya’ll know about my junior and senior english teacher. But did I ever tell you about the freshman JROTC instructor? She was so much fun~ I remember one time!!! ooh this is a good one :DDDD!!!! that I was in so muuuuuch pain that I was crying and couldn’t move! and guess what!!!!???? ooh! ooh! guess! She called me a whiny baby and said I was overreacting!!!! omg? She was so right tho, I was totally overreacting to being in immense, insufferable, pain that no one even attempted to be concerned about~~
Oh here’s another good one: I used to cry a lot! It was horribly embarrassing and not fun~ I was either sick, on my period(which according to the multiple doctors I had to be rushed to, was normal and the intense pain was hereditary), or having an emotional breakdown~ This lasted from 5th grade to Senior Year of HS! :D
One time I was in a lot of pain, 7th grade I believe, and cried for a whole hour straight. What did my teacher do? Have me sit in class while everyone went to like social studies or whatever, talked with some teachers, and then complained about how I “cried and cried and cried for an hour straight” with no concern whatsoever. BTW the nurse was never there and even then she was kinda useless.
Don’t even get me started on the several times I was on my period and was actually screaming in pain and was still looked down on because a student screaming and hollering in pain is no cause for concern obviously~ Really surprising how a lot of the male teachers and staff were more concerned then the female ones, especially the science teacher who has a uterus, has multiple daughters, and the audacity to say I’m ~overreacting~. I’m so happy our teachers and schools have our priorities in order.
Note: If you’re horrified by this. Good. You should be.
More misc things: My HS had a shit ton of roaches, water bugs, and whatever those long disgusting things that walk around on the walls and fall off once you see them. Art meant nothing to them. Teacher sanity meant nothing, student sanity meant nothing. The principal was great and I blame whoever’s “funding” schools and working behind the scenes. I know this was more about personal stuff, but like a lot of things like large classes, lack of supplies, lack of empathy from teachers, constant pests, horrible food, stupid rules that hurt us more than helped, really weird exposure to cops and military, and too much focus on one subject is super common in public schools and I really really want it to stop.
#tazzykiki#long post#public schools#here's that rant i promised#honestly greg was smart not sending steven to school#not telling what could've happened#cuz look at this shit#okay to reblog and even add on#plz tell me im not the only one

Julie Cogburn/Panther Creek HS Classroom Library
Wow. I can’t believe it has been 5 years since my wonderful sister, Melinda, started this blog. When she first talked with me about it, I thought it was a great idea, but I don’t think either of us had any sense of the effect it would cause on her (pun intended) or on the readers and great friends who ended up writing for it. Like so many before me, it is hard to narrow the charities down to which I want to donate for the next 6 days. But I am beginning with one that is new and near and dear to my heart.
I am lucky enough to be in the best book club ever. Yes, we drink wine, but we do actually read the books and have excellent discussions. I can honestly say that every woman there is smart, articulate, loving, and hilarious. I love my book club! Each December, we pick our books for the coming year; they always include both fiction and nonfiction and at least one classic….which brings me to Julie. Julie was a high school English teacher. To say that she had a love of reading and of teaching would be an understatement. She always led the discussion of the classic we chose, and it could vary from an old classic (Ethan Frome) to a more recent one (e.g., The Things We Carry). I was an English major, and there is another English teacher in the group as well, so to say that we could geek out talking about symbolism, metaphors, protagonists, etc.…well, let’s just say that it was a tribute to Julie’s leadership style that no one ever got bored. I think the resolution that two of the members crafted in honor of Julie says it best: “She has never met a classic that she didn’t like, understands classics even without watching the movie, is the book-explainer extraordinaire to those of us who just don’t get it, makes her book club friends think of books on a deeper level, and is the best book discussion leader in her book club…Therefore, be it resolved on this day, August 10, 2017, that Julie’s book club, formerly known as The Book Club, will henceforth be known as The Julie Cogburn Book Club and hereby establishes The Julie Cogburn Classroom Library at Panther Creek High School in honor of our dear friend.”
Shortly after our December 2016 book club dinner where we chose the books, she was diagnosed with cancer; it was a real shock. Julie died on September 4, 2017, leaving behind her husband, Dave; her two children, Ryan and Ainsley; and so very many friends and family who adored her. She was able to come to the August 2017 book club where the full resolution was read to the group, and she chose our classic for the coming year (Madame Bovary). A member had had the great idea to start this library at Julie’s high school to provide more books in the classroom libraries so that students could just pick up something and read. They didn’t have to go to the school library, there were no grades or books reports….just reading for the sheer joy of it. This was also designated where people could donate in lieu of flowers in her memory. To date, over 1000 books have already been donated in 3 months (the photo is of the staging area where the books are sorted before going to the classrooms), and each is stamped with Julie’s name so the reader knows why the book is there. Many people have sent notes with their donated books, such as “Ms. Cogburn was the best teacher I ever had” or “She is the reason I became a teacher.” Our book club has committed to continuing to supply books every year in her honor and memory.
So, Julie, we love and miss you terribly. Book club isn’t the same without you, and we’ll be toasting you and Madame Bovary next year. Because you and I both loved magical realism, one book I am donating is Isabel Allende’s The House of the Spirits (my favorite book) and Moby Dick (IMHO, the great American novel and a true classic). I have no doubt that you are leading the best, heavenly book club ever!

Causes and Effect: My Year of Giving Daily, was started in 2013 by entertainment and culture journalist Melinda Newman, who made daily donations to a wide variety of non-profits and wrote about her experience. USA Today music writer, Brian Mansfield took on this monumental task in 2014. This year, more than 20 individuals will contribute, each taking over the blog for a period of time, and ending with Melinda to bring the blog to a close.
Jeannie Newman, in addition to being Melinda’s big sister, loves books, pets, movies, and friends. She has worked in the child welfare field, produced theater in London, been a corporate banker, and is now working to get pediatric hospice access to all children who need it in North Carolina.

The “no hallyu” about me tag
No one tagged me, but it looked fun and thought it would be nice to introduce myself a little better! I hope you enjoy reading it :)
10 groups/artists you like besides Kpop/liked before Kpop?
1. Backstreet Boys (forever & always, even if I’m “dating” myself) 2. El Cuarteto de Nos 3. Campodónico 4. Marian Hill 5. BON.IVER. 6. Kiiara 7. Cœur de Pirate-everything she’s ever done. 8. The Weepies <3 <3 <3 (one my mom and I listen to together) 9. The xx (they were in my city recently but I had my night class ☹ ) 10. Older Jack Johnson- Constellations is so nostalgic for me.
10 favorite non-kpop songs?
1. “Pa’ Bailar- Siempre quiero mas”-Bajofondo & Julieta Venegas 2. “Gotta Have you”-The Weepies 3. “Lo Malo de Ser Bueno”- El Cuarteto de Nos 4. “Technicolor Beat”-Oh Wonder 5. “Printemps”- Cœur de Pirate 6. “Danse et Danse”- Cœur de Pirate 7. “1987”- Campodónico 8.“Kill vs. Maim”-Grimes 9. “Shelter”-the XX 10. “Better Togther”- Jack Johnson (makes me think of road trips in Hawaii with the fam)
And way too many others. I have an #aRMyMusic based Twitter account! Find me @armymusic13 if you want more <3
10 favorite movies?
1. Princess Mononoke (also: the best Halloween costume I ever did) 2. Spirited Away (wasn’t Haku everyone’s first crush?) 3. Laputa/Castle in the Sky 4. Howl’s Moving Castle (really anything Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli) 5. 10 Things I hate about you (<3 Heath <3) 6. any superhero movie!! (JK, where you at?) 7. Pirates of the Caribbean (just the first two, they should have stopped while they were ahead) 8. Beauty and the Beast (the 90s one, haven’t seen the new one yet) Lion King (the first movie I ever saw in theaters) 9. Sidewalls (an Argentine movie about two neighbors who would perfect together but their paths don’t cross…or do they?) 10. And because I’m bad at following directions, any Wes Anderson movie (I once wrote a paper on The Darjeeling Limited). 11. And because I’m really, really, bad at following directions, old movies like Charade (feat. Audrey Hepburn & Cary Grant), Rebel Without a Cause, and any Alfred Hitchcock.
10 favorite TV shows, including animes and cartoons (I almost never watch TV, bc I don’t have the attention span for it. )
1. Avatar the Last Airbender- I’ve watched every season multiple times, and remember watching them with my friends on Friday nights in HS. What can I say-we were super cool ☺ . See also: ZUKO.)
2. Pushing Daisies- somehow super dark and super cute at the same time? I’m rewatching it with my friend now, and it was such a tragedy that it was killed off by the 2007 (?) writers’ strike. It has a really retro feel, not to mention all the awkward puns and sexual tension.
3. Inuyasha-I somehow watched all like 250 episodes of it.
4. The OC- I watched the first season with my best friend in HS. Aside from these top 3, this is where I begin to struggle (lol). I got too involved in their lives/plots and started to get stressed out though.
5. Star-Crossed. A really short lived CW show.
6.You’re Beautiful (pushing the boundaries here bc it’s a kdrama). It was the first one I ever watched, and I’m still waiting to find one I like as much.
7. Heartstrings (see above. The main actors were in both series together)- I guess I’m a Park Shin Hye and Jung Yong Hwa fangirl?
8. The Scholar Who Walks at Night (currently watching)
9.Strong Woman Do Bong Soon (currently watching)
10. Ingobernable (currently watching)
10 favorite manga/comics-this is a slippery slope. I had a short lived shoujo manga blog. I haven’t been reading manga as much, so most of these are older, but still near and dear to my heart.
1. Kanata Kara/From Far Away-Seriously, go do yourself a favor and read this series, even if you don’t read manga. Honestly, everything by Kyoko Hikawa is great.
2. By the same author-Miriam. The American Old West in a shoujo manga? Weird but cute.
3.Fruits Basket-One word: KYO. First series I ever read all the way through. I own physical copies of all the volumes. I remember picking them up from Barnes and Noble the first day they were released in English, and plowing through them in half an hour.
4.Kamisama Hajimemashita- clearly I have a fantasy/supernatural bent, lol.
5. Saga-future/sci-fi. Not as teen-friendly as the other series on this list 🙈. I’ve been reading through these more recently with my friends.
6. Alex + Ada- A newer take on the robot-girlfriend/android theme. It’s more interesting than most though because it deals with questions of the self, free will, and societal discrimination.
7. Akatsuki no Yona- again with the fantasy! this one was amazing, and i still check for updates periodically. Haven’t watched the anime though.
8. Love So Life- I have no idea if this one is still ongoing (Google tells me it’s finished, so I have to catch up), but it was a cute, slice of life family drama/comedy about an orphaned babysitter, and an uncle who has taken in his relatives’ kids. Unsurprisingly, romance ensues.
9. Beast Master- a super short series about a girl who is able to control a boy raised by wolves (lol). If you have seen the Korean movie A Werewolf Boy it has a very similar vibe.
10. Horimiya- a cool inversion of gender tropes in shoujo. The characters felt like real people to me-the scary guy ends up being a huge squish (cough, Yoongi, cough), with the girlfriend being the one that is tough and outgoing.
These are just the ones that I remembered in particular/came to me, but I’m sure there are many more that I loved!
10 things you enjoyed before kpop/enjoy besides kpop, that won’t fit in the list above. 1. Reading- I’m currently in the process of starting a coffee/book blog in my city!
2. Coffee-see above!
3. Hanging out with friends! I’m just as happy going out and staying in with dinner and a movie.
4.Dancing-I’m not good, but I have fun with it when I go out with friends or just when I’m home alone ;) I also have taken a lot of Zumba, but idk if that counts as dancing, haha.
5. Cooking-I rarely do though. Too busy, and I’m lazy when it’s just me. I like cooking for others though.
6.Traveling-I’ve lived in Argentina and Spain, and traveled to Uruguay, India, Mexico, Portugal, Italy, Canada, Ireland, the U.K, and various countries in the Caribbean. I haven’t been to Korea or Japan yet, but hopefully they are up next! I’d also love to visit Australia with my younger brother. I’ve also traveled within the US quite a bit.
7. Learning languages-I speak Spanish & English, a little bit of Galician from when/where I was living in Spain, and am currently working on my Korean.I took Chinese briefly before, but didn’t make much progress :(
8. Listening to new music on Spotify. I was a 90s kid so I remember dial up, Napster (a little, lol), buying songs on iTunes and Pandora. It’s crazy how much variety is out there now to listen to!
9. I’m trying to learn how to make mashups-I think it would be fun to mix BTS with Western or Latin Pop. Haven’t made much progress on this yet.
10. Most recently, writing for this blog, and spending a lot of time on tumblr :)
I hope you all feel like you know me a little better now! Feel free to message me if you want to nerd out about any of the above <3
